New Website On The Way!

Filed under: Uncategorized — jacquelinestetsonphotography @ 5:40 pm

I am taking my website down for the next month or so to work on a brand-spankin new site.  My photo blog will take it’s place in the meantime.  Look at the pages in the upper right hand corner to navigate through additional information like pricing and about me. As always, send me an email if you’d like to meet in person or see additional work samples. Most of my shoots are also featured in the blog so you should be able to see everything!

Deanine + Antonio [South Florida Wedding Photography]

Oh…my…goodness. Deanine and Antonio know how to throw a party! I was lucky to be the photographer for this awesome destination wedding at the Sheraton Ft Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port Hotel.  Even though a tropical storm forced us inside for the ceremony, we were able to sneak outside between the raindrops for formals and an amazing pink sunset!  Here are some of my favorite pics, though honestly it is hard to pick just a few! Antonio’s first glimpse of his bride, Deanine and Antonio jumping the broom at the end of the ceremony, first dance, last dance, and some newlywed photos.  Deanine was absolutely gorgeous and everyone DANCED!  Congrats to the happy couple!!

Hanh + Steven [South Florida Wedding Photography]

Another awesome destination wedding!!! Hanh and Steven hosted an amazing wedding in Fort Lauderdale in July. Hanh was simply breathtaking in her gown and updo. Everyone traveled by trolley (with mojitos of course!) to the ceremony at St. Sebastian Church and then returned back to the Harbor Beach Marriott for a patio beach-side cocktail hour. Then the gang had a delicious meal and danced the night away. Much congrats to the newlyweds!!

I have been super busy these past few months but have been a terrible blogger. I hope to catch up these next few weeks as I continue to work on my website.

Here is a shoot I did earlier this summer of the amazingly beautiful sisters Kristina and Ana. We originally did this shoot as part of my retouching offer, but I just had to show you a few of my favorite pics with no retouching at all. The girls are stunning all on their own and were so much fun to work with!!

The Beautiful Miss M

Introducing The Beautiful and Amazing Miss M! This gorgeous little girl is such a bundle of joy and sweetness and all things good. Miss M. is a remarkable good baby.  She went through several outfit changes, a nudey shoot, and got handled quite a bit. We even got a few pics of her handsome big brother holding her. Amazingly, she slept through the whole thing and only at the end were we able to snap a few pics of her amazing eyes. We see big things ahead for Miss M!

Debra + Derik [South Florida Engagement Shoots]

I am super happy to share a couple of my favorite photos from an engagement shoot this weekend. Debra and Derik were visiting South Florida and staying at the amazing Fontainbleau Hotel on Miami Beach. Our plan was to wake up early and do a sunrise engagement photo shoot on the beach.  We had been having our typical amazing spring weather so we thought we would have a golden sunrise over the ocean. Well, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us and it was gloomy, gray, windy and wet! This is a perfect example that “bad” weather can still make really great photos. Debra and Derik had such great attitudes and we snapped these up between the sprinkles and under a shelter!!  Congrats to the happy couple and I hope you have an AMAZING wedding in Boston!!

Bonny + Daniel [South Florida Wedding Photography]

Filed under: destination wedding — Tags: , , , , , , , , — jacquelinestetsonphotography @ 9:34 am

Last week I had the distinct pleasure of being the photographer for the destination wedding of Bonny and Daniel. We met at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens for our photo shoot and had fun shooting with cool sculptures from the current exhibit by Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne. It was a hot day, but Bonny and Dan were troopers. Bonny was breathtaking in her gown that showcased her intricate body art and she had a fantastic feather fan as her light ice blue. We took several shots here by themselves and with family before heading over to The Standard hotel in Miami Beach. The two mums were in charge as Bonny’s mom officiated the ceremony and Dan’s mom sung a song for them so beautiful, time stopped. There was not a dry eye during the ceremony. A quick glass of champagne to start the celebrations and they were off to dinner at the Mondrian.

Every wedding is different and unique and reflects the character of the couple getting married. This is what I love about wedding photography. This wedding, between Bonny and Daniel, for me, was special because it was so intimate and close. It was about family and love and just the two of them. Everything else just fell away. All my best to the newlyweds and thank you for having me be part of your day.

FREE Photo Shoot and PhotoShopping! … but …

Hello! As you know, I am a PhotoShop genius. I am offering a free photo shoot to highlight my mad photoshop skilz. If you don’t care about why I am a PS genius and just want to know about the shoot, skip down the offer part.

I love doing retouching of images to make people look their best. My philosophy on PhotoShop is this:

Some people are against photoshopping because it is changing reality. The camera shows how it is, and any digital manipulation is cheating.

I disagree. I think photoshop can be used to make the picture MORE real. When we are living in the world and are talking to somebody face-to-face, we see all of them. We see what they look like, but we also see their energy, their spirit, their movement, their vibe. And how eyes work (there are loads of science books on this) is that we all have two blind spots in the middle of what we see. So our brains fill in what should be there. So while we are living in the moment and having a wonderful chat with our dear new friend, we are seeing and creating our perception of them. We usually don’t notice the particular shade of their teeth or the mole on their neck or how their clothes are laying on their bodies. We just see them.

However, in a picture, when we stop time and force everyone to look at an image of that same person from a particular perspective (the height of the photographer, what lens they had on the camera, how much light was in the room) all of that in-person filling in goes out the window. When we look at a flat image, we see the pimples and moles and double chins and shine. We see that scar on the chin. That her lipstick rubbed off a bit or he missed a spot shaving. We see that guy in a bright red shirt walking in the distance. We see all the imperfections in a picture that we didn’t see in real life.

How I use PhotoShop, is that I try to get us back to the in-person experience. I want to get rid of all of those little imperfections that we don’t notice in real life.

Don’t get me wrong. I also love doing that high-fashion photoshopping where you completely change what the person looks like. And I’m looking to do one of those shoots too. But my primary goal for this offer is REAL people.

So that is why I am offering FREE photoshoots. I know I am a PS genius, however, I am also sensitive about my photoshopping. I will post pictures all day of my clients looking great but I just don’t feel comfortable posting before and after photos of my clients.  I know I wouldn’t want everyone to know that the photographer had to photoshop out the huge pimple I had in the middle of my forehead or whiten my yellow teeth or thin me down to look like I was 20 pounds lighter.

OFFER

I am offering a free photo shoot to anyone willing to let me show before / after photos of you. You’ll get a disc of all the images from the shoot as well as the retouched ones.  I’m looking for:

- Actor / Author / Professional Headshot

- Engagement or Couples Shoot

- Rock The Dress Shoot (get dressed up in your old wedding gown and we go take fun photos)

- High School Senior Portrait (the opposite of those boring studio pictures. we go out to cool locations and shoot there.)

The before / after photos will be used for promotional materials by me to demonstrate that I am a photoshop genius.  :)

Email me if you are interested!

Piggies and Polkas In 4 Minutes Flat [Family Photography]

Filed under: family — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , — jacquelinestetsonphotography @ 3:52 pm

A snowy day in Boston was the perfect backdrop to a lightning fast family photo shoot in the South End.  Mom was ready with the kid hats as they pulled into the street parking I saved for them. Mr. Finn was unamused with piggies and snowflakes so Miss Lucy gladly modeled both hats.  She is a natural beauty and has got the modeling moves already!  Total time outside:  4 minutes. According to the metadata, our cute hat photo shoot was from 10:15 am – 10:19 am. Woot woot! From there we headed to Flour Bakery and rewarded ourselves with some yummy baked treats.  Mmmmm….sticky buns….
